Beyond the 'Pennylane-compatible' badge displayed by every vendor: which SMEs truly leverage the native integration, how it changes things for accountants in terms of processing, and why we made Orizen × Pennylane the standard 'operational + accounting' duo for French SMEs with 5–100 employees.

I Who is it for

An integration for SMEs and accounting firms that want to stop re-entering data, not for those who love Excel.

Pennylane has become the go-to accounting management tool for modern SMEs in just a few years. When Pennylane handles the accounting and Orizen handles the business, the duo is unbeatable. Four profiles benefit particularly from this integration.

SMEs whose accountant already uses Pennylane

Your accountant has switched to Pennylane. You still send them monthly PDFs, which they re-enter. The partnership isn’t being used to its full potential.

Native synchronisation: your invoices issued in Orizen appear in Pennylane without intervention. Your accountant saves data entry time, you gain advice.

Pennylane accounting firm

You support 50 to 200 SME clients. Each file represents 4 to 8 hours of monthly re-entry for customer invoices.

Your Orizen clients feed Pennylane in real time. You move from data entry to advisory — 30 to 50% of time freed up for added value.

CFO/controller for growing SMEs

Every month, you consolidate your business and accounting data in Excel. Day+10 has become the accepted norm. Frustrating.

Real-time data alignment between operations (Orizen) and accounting (Pennylane). Management reporting is generated without manual consolidation.

SME founder who wants to manage

You discover your financial situation two months after the end of the quarter. Management is retrospective, never preventive.

Real-time revenue in Orizen, projected cash flow in Pennylane, cross-referenced data. Management becomes predictive, not just retrospective.

II The operations + accounting duo

Orizen for operations, Pennylane for accounting. Each does what it does best.

The visual breakdown below: the principle of native integration (two complementary layers), the flows that move automatically, the value chain all the way to the accountant, and a real-world testimonial.

Two tools, one business

Orizen and Pennylane don’t do the same job.
That’s precisely why they work so well together.

Each tool excels in its field. Together, they cover 100% of your value chain with no silos.

IV Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we get asked the most.

Why Pennylane instead of another accounting tool?

Pennylane has established itself in France as the accounting management tool adopted by most modern accounting firms. Its fluid interface, native connectors with fintech companies and collaboration with accountants make it the ideal partner for an SME that wants an efficient "operational + accounting" duo. Orizen complements Pennylane on the business side (CRM, quotes, projects) which Pennylane does not cover.

How does the integration work in practice?

Every customer invoice issued in Orizen is automatically sent to Pennylane in structured format (UBL + PDF). Payments received in Pennylane are updated in Orizen (status "Paid"). Reconciliation is automatic: the invoice is matched with the payment without manual intervention. The same principle applies to credit notes, supplier purchases and expense reports. Initial setup takes 10 minutes (Pennylane OAuth).

Is the integration billed separately?

No, the Pennylane integration is included in all Orizen packs (Sales, Back-office, 360°) at no extra cost. On Pennylane’s side, using the connector is also free. You only pay for your respective subscriptions: Orizen for business operations, Pennylane for accounting.

What if my accountant doesn’t use Pennylane?

Orizen offers a standard FEC (Fichier des Écritures Comptables) export that all French accounting software accepts (Sage, Cegid, EBP, Quadratus, ACD, etc.). Your accountant can import the file in seconds. The result is less seamless than real-time Pennylane sync, but far superior to manually sending PDFs.

Is my data kept in France?

Yes. Orizen is hosted on OVH Gravelines (France). Pennylane is also hosted in France. Data exchanges between the two tools transit via TLS 1.3 encrypted APIs. No transfers outside the EU, full GDPR compliance. Your accounting data remains under French jurisdiction.

What happens if I deactivate the Pennylane connection?

You can deactivate the connection at any time from your Orizen settings (and symmetrically from Pennylane). Already synchronised data remains in Pennylane (it’s yours). You can also export the full history in CSV/FEC at any time. No vendor lock-in: it’s the opposite of a "closed ecosystem" model.

V Our conviction

A business tool should never compete with accounting. It should feed it.

Many SaaS vendors end up adding 'their own accounting module' to lock in customers financially. The result is usually poor: a business tool’s accounting coverage lacks the depth and professional habits of a dedicated accounting solution.

Pennylane has shown that a modern accounting tool, designed for accountant + business owner collaboration, can transform an SME’s accounting relationship. The accountant reclaims their advisory role. The business owner gets fresh figures.

We’ve seen too many SMEs juggle between a business tool that claims to do accounting and an accountant re-entering data in their own system. Too many vendors claim to be "Pennylane-compatible" without a real integration.

So we made Orizen complementary to Pennylane, not a competitor. Orizen excels at operations (CRM, quotes, projects, issued invoices). Pennylane excels at accounting. The duo is unbeatable because each does what it does best—not what it claims to do.
