Beyond the "Mailchimp vs Brevo vs Sendinblue" debate: which teams actually switch to CRM-connected emailing, why a generic subject line kills open rates, and how we integrated email into Orizen without turning SMEs into email marketing agencies.

I Who it’s for

Three profiles that need CRM-linked emailing, not another tool to sync.

Email marketing is 50 years old with an unmatched ROI. The problem isn’t email—it’s its separation from the customer database. When the sending tool ignores what the CRM already knows, the same message goes to everyone, and low open rates come as no surprise. Three profiles stand out to us in particular.

SME marketing manager (5–50 employees)

You manage communications for a growing SME. Mailchimp or Brevo as standalone, and a manual (or broken) sync with your CRM.

Segments are always up to date because they come from the CRM. Behaviours (opens, clicks) feed back into the customer record. No more syncs to monitor.

Business leader managing their own communications

You have 200 customers, you send a newsletter now and then, you want to follow up on unsigned quotes — without becoming an email marketing expert.

Ready-to-use templates, simple segments (active customers, recent prospects, pending quotes), send in 2 clicks. No complex tool to learn.

Founder of a B2B SaaS in automation

Your sales cycle requires 5 to 10 touches per lead before signing. Without automation, you forget half your prospects.

Sequences triggered by business events (demo request, quote sent, payment received), customisation by pipeline stage. The nurturing runs on autopilot.

II Emailing connected to the CRM

Your campaigns from your Orizen customer database, not from a CSV export.

The visual breakdown below: the cost of emails disconnected from the CRM, Orizen features (native segmentation, tracking, sequences), three concrete use cases, and the bridge to your accounting.

What your teams experience when Mailchimp and your CRM don’t talk to each other

Mailchimp on one side, CRM on the other

Your customer database is in Orizen (or another CRM), your campaigns are in Mailchimp. The two never sync perfectly. A prospect who replies to your email isn’t tracked in their CRM history.

Manual CSV exports

Every campaign requires exporting from your CRM, importing into Mailchimp, and checking for duplicates. Two hours of prep work before even writing the email.

Segmentation impossible

You want to send differently to hot leads, active customers and inactive customers. But your emailing tool doesn’t know these statuses—they’re in the CRM.

Untapped results

Someone opened your email five times and clicked the quote link. You don’t know — because Mailchimp doesn’t tell your CRM. A missed opportunity for your sales team.

Campaigns linked to CRM contacts

Every campaign send is recorded in the contact’s history. Sales reps see when a client opened an email and what they clicked—before making the call.

IV FAQs

Answers to the questions we’re asked most often.

Why connect emailing to the CRM instead of using a dedicated tool?

A standalone emailing tool (such as Mailchimp, Brevo or Sendinblue) requires manual list synchronisation or a fragile connector. The result: outdated segments, lost unsubscriptions and missing behaviour data (purchases, quotes) in the CRM. By integrating emailing with the CRM, Orizen always uses up-to-date segmentation, attributes opens and clicks to the customer record, and triggers sequences based on business events (signed quote, first invoice, signing anniversary).

How many emails can I send per month with Orizen?

The allowed volume depends on your plan. For most SMEs, usage fits comfortably within the basic plan. Beyond that, the tiers are published and progressive—no surprise overcharging at the end of the month. No 'per contact' pricing that penalises the growth of your database.

How can I avoid ending up in spam folders?

Three technical levers: (1) Sender domain authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) — Orizen guides you through this. (2) Shared IP reputation with other serious senders, continuously verified. (3) Basic hygiene: cleaning up bouncing addresses, removing inactive contacts, always including an unsubscribe link. For content: avoid ALL CAPS, shortened links, or an unbalanced image-to-text ratio.

Can I segment by behaviour (opens, clicks, purchases)?

Yes. Orizen segments by all customer record attributes (sector, size, pipeline stage, cumulative value) AND by behaviour (opened the last campaign, clicked a specific link, signed a quote in the last 30 days). Segments are dynamic: they update automatically with every change.

What are the GDPR compliance requirements for emailing in France?

For B2C: explicit and free consent is mandatory (unchecked checkbox). For B2B: legitimate interest is accepted if the email targets the professional in their role (sales, HR, accounting), provided an unsubscribe link is included. Orizen automatically adds this link to every send and removes unsubscribed contacts from all future campaigns.

How many times can I follow up with a prospect without being intrusive?

Practical rule: a maximum of 3 follow-ups, spaced out (Day 0, Day +5, Day +12), with different messaging each time (never the same copy-paste), and added value in each follow-up—a statistic, an article, an open question. Beyond this, you risk fatiguing the contact. Orizen offers sequences that respect this rhythm by default and automatically stop once a prospect responds.

V Our belief

Email is 50 years old. And it still outperforms everything else.

Email has been declared outdated by SMS, then by instant messaging, then by push notifications. Each time, its demise was announced. And each time, it endured.

Because it works. The average B2B ROI of email marketing remains unmatched, cost-to-result ratio included. No other marketing channel comes close sustainably.

We’ve seen too many SMEs swing between two extremes: sending too little (for fear of being intrusive) or repeatedly sending the same generic email (out of discouragement). Both end up in the same place: the bin.

We didn’t reinvent email. We just stopped separating it from the CRM. The right email is the one that uses what you already know about the recipient—not the one that sends the same message to 5,000 strangers.
